Limitations

There are limitations that exist for the modality of poetry to be delivered via curriculum without modifying the outlook or differentiating the learning outcomes. The outlook of what poetry is and how children think/see their poetic expressive selves can be a limitation if not addressed. For the outcome, the learning expectations are adjusted for students with physical, cognitive, and academic learning disabilities to accommodate their inclusion in an arts inspired environment. For non-verbal autistic learners, a traditional expectation of poetic expression does not amount to the level of adequate or appropriate in a general academic setting. Therefore, the learning to recognize letters, form words, and apply elements of art to them are vital ingredients to the special education process of poetic self expression.
